  • 1 vanilla bean 1/2 cup superfine sugar 1 ounce ginger brew (such as Reed’s) 1 1/2 ounces apple cider 2 ounces dark rum (such as Gosling’s Black seal)

Directions

Split a vanilla bean lengthwise, scrape out the inside and add it to the sugar, setting aside the pod. Stir until the sugar is speckled with bits of vanilla. Dip the rim of a glass in water, then in the sugar to coat. Mix ginger brew, apple cider, and rum in a measuring cup. Pour over ice into glass and garnish with half the vanilla bean.

Martha Stewart Member     Rating: Unrated       11/05/2013   *Much* better than wimpy Reed's ginger beer is Fever Tree. This lone ingredient makes or breaks a Moscow Mule or a Dark 'n Stormy. A full, rich, intensely ginger flavor provides great backbone & structure to a cocktail.

Much better than wimpy Reed’s ginger beer is Fever Tree. This lone ingredient makes or breaks a Moscow Mule or a Dark ’n Stormy. A full, rich, intensely ginger flavor provides great backbone & structure to a cocktail.
