total: 2 hrs 15 mins
Yield: Makes 8 cups (Serves 10 to 12)
Ingredients
Ingredient Checklist
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup vodka
2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled (halved if large)
2 cups sliced nectarines
2 (750-ml) bottles dry rosé wine
Fresh mint, for garnish
Cook's Notes
Martha likes Belvedere or Chopin vodka in this punch. For a non-alcoholic version, omit the vodka and replace the wine with seltzer. You can macerate fruit in vodka up to 2 days, though the fruit will become very soft and most of the flavor will have leached out, so we would suggest straining the entire thing and garnish with fresh fruit only.

Directions
In a saucepan, bring sugar and 1/4 cup water to a boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved (you should have about 1/3 cup). Transfer to a large bowl or pitcher; let cool completely.
Stir in vodka, strawberries, and nectarines. Refrigerate, covered, at least 2 hours and up to 2 days. Add wine and stir. Fill glasses with ice and add a few strawberries and a slice or two of nectarine. Top with sangria, garnish with fresh mint, and serve immediately.
